Open Letters Monthly mourns the death of A. C. Crispin, veteran science fictioneer, invaluable writer's advocate, and pillar of Star Trek fiction. She patiently listened, she tirelessly gave great advice, and she could commandeer a lecture hall simply by smiling. She was a warrior (with a soft spot for kitties and muffins), and she's gone much too soon from a writing world that needs her more than ever.
